Biddles and Hoffman

Dave Hoffman and Stephanie Biddle performed in a very special concert at the Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill recently. Dave was in from Chicago and has been playing trumpet for the Ray Charles Big Band Jazz Orchestra for the last 13 years. Jeff Lapp was on piano and Paul Johnson played the bass on the first set which included such standards as, “Never be Another You”, “I Wish You Love” and of course the classic Duke Ellington signature tune, “Take the A Train”. The quartet was rounded out by Wali Mohamed on drums and they truly sounded great. Dave Hoffman treated the audience to some amazing riffs and stirring solos and Stephanie was absolutely radiant as she took the stage and exuded a brilliantly positive vibe on the proceedings. Her voice was delightful and her musical stylings were really enjoyed by the appreciative full house. The second set featured Reggie Wilson on piano and Eric Lagace on bass. Among the songs played were, “Love is Here to Stay”, “Body and Soul” and hot a blues track, “Swingin’ Shepard Blues”. It was indeed a rare treat to listen to Dave Hoffman blow his horn. He is a consummate professional and his virtuosity was clearly evident during the entire show. Stephanie Bidde is a Montreal treasure and will be performing in other upcoming concerts which will be promoted here at ramco.net as well as other upcoming projects involving Mr. Dave Hoffman which we will keep you apprised of. Stay tuned for more fabulous entertainment..
