There is certainly not
much to say about this film that hasn’t already been said. Winner of 8
Academy awards in 1984, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor,
Best Make-up and Best Sound. It is being released again to a new
generation of music and movie fans to appreciate. Almost 3 hours in
length, it is the sad story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s life, told
in flashback mode to a priest by Antonio Salieri “F. Murray
Abraham” from a mental institution towards the end of his life. He
reflects his life as well as Mozart’s “Tom Hulce”. This really has
to been seen on the big screen to fully appreciate the elaborate sets and
costumes used for re-creating the theatres of the 18th Century. There is
also an additional 20 minutes of script and music added bringing this
outstanding demonstration of acting costuming and spine tingling music to
life. “Tom Hulce” character of Mozart had the most addictive
nervous laugh.
