This is the 3rd studio release to have the rating of “NC-17” since this rating was created 14 years ago. The other two were “Henry and June” and “Showgirls”. Getting people to come to see this film by creating a hype over a rating is a weak way of promoting an AAB (average at best) movie.

Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci (Last Tango in Paris) this film takes place in Paris in 1968. An American Matthew (Michael Pitt) is sent to school to learn French. He meets up with Isabelle (Eva Green) and Theo (Louis Garrel) who play brother and sister and all have a passion for cinema in common. When the parents go on a lengthy vacation, Matthew is invited to stay with the twins. The three become involved in some ménage à trois action and he quickly finds out that the brother and sister are in love. The three things that would make this film worth the price of admission were the cinematography as well at the 1960’s soundtrack (Doors, Janis Joplin, Hendrix) and the way the characters recreated scenes from vintage films which include Queen Christina (1933) and Blonde Venus (1932) À bout de soufflé (1959)

I would recommend waiting for the DVD or VHS tape which will out in the very near future.
